The Importance of Backlinks

Google and other search engines rank your site on how many other web sites link to it. So the name of the game is not only to get as many sites to link to yours, but to get sites that pertain to your subject.

Just like in real world business, networking is essential to any website or blog. Forums and bulletins boards are great places to leave your footprints. Join a bunch of them, contribute, and leave your website as your signature. Commenting on similar blogs will also help.

Find out your competition’s sources!

Need ideas on where to find good back links? Go to type in Google search the following:

link:(competition's website)

Go to those sites and link your own blog/site.

Get High Placement for .edu and .gov Back Links!

Most search engines place high value for .edu or .gov back links. Search for .edu/.gov bulletin boards. Make a few posts with your blog site as a signature and you’re on your way to the top of search engines. For example, if you have a blog about cars, find an auto mechanic professor and ask them to link you. If you have a “how to make money online”, find an economics professor and so forth.
