Travel blogs are easy money, passive income generators. Good travel blogs include good self-taken pictures with good stories or information to go along with it. There are many travel blog networks out there that make good money. But, why join them and make money for them? You need to make your own travel blog for easy money. I will talk about one particular example with this guy's blog: Vietnamesegod.blogspot.com.

I was personally searching Google for different phrases: Vietnam night clubs, Saigon night clubs, and Vietnam dance clubs to find what were the local dance hot spots for my upcoming Vietnam vacation. What I found were too many general travel sites, short descriptions, and directory information. I wanted to see good pictures and personal reviews. I found a decent travel blog, which was Vietnamesegod.blogspot.com. He offered good self-taken photos and personal narrative of recurring Vietnam themes about food, culture, and entertainment.
Vietnamesegod.blogspot.com's travel blog has been making money online since February 2005. After 2 1/2 years, he has nearly 250,000 page views. A break-down of the numbers reveal an averaged 100,000 page views a year, 8333 page visits per month, and 278 page visits per day. Absent from his page are any search engine optimizations, social bookmarks, keyword tagging, or optimal ad placements. I don't believe he has any search engine registrations either. If he were to include some changes and use more than Google Adsense ads, he would increase his ad-earnings by a huge margin.
Lets look at some of the ad keywords found in his displayed Google ads. One particular term is "Vietnam travel" I will search Google Adwords Keyword Tool for the cost-per-click for an ad. (View Side Image) First, I open up the Keyword Tool, and in the "Keyword Variations" tab, I type "vietnam travel" with synonyms checked. Second, I type in the characters I see. Third, I change the drop-down menu to say Cost and Ad Positions Estimates. Fourth, I type in 100(which means $100). Lastly, I click the button "Get More Keywords".
(View Image Below) You will then see a results page appear directly under you search box. You will see that certain keywords advertisers pay up to $2.29 to $1.40 per click. Google doesn't share how much percentage cut you earn per click, but sources around the web who examined 2005 Google financial sheets say it's around 75-78%. So you earn around $1.72 to $1.79 for the highest keyword variation of "Vietnam travel". The way you want to keyword target these high paying keywords, is to make your blog rich with those certain keywords, which is called keyword density. You want a good combo of keyword density without sounding like you're spamming the article.
Lets guess what Vietnamesegod.blogspot.com is making. The average ad click-through-rate for blogs are 1% of the total page views. He's getting 2500 ad clicks. His ads aren't completely Vietnam travel ads, they include Vietnam food ads, which is worth less. I'll guess he's under the $1 click-through-rate range. And here are some figures: Now lets look as if Vietnamesegod.blogspot.com had optimized his website and got a 3% click-through-rate.
Knowledge helps get more money! My case study example made easy money after just putting up vacation pictures and blogging about it. If he studied up, he would've optimized more and used diversified ad programs. He definitely could have made that 3% click-through-rate over the same amount of time. Three times what he's currently making is a significant amount.
