Get Your Blog Network Going Secret

BlogCatalog is a site you need to sign-up for to start your blog network. It's a blog network similiar to MyBlogLog but I feel BlogCatalog is 10x better because of one thing. BlogCatalog has a discussion forum called the Shameless Plug Promotion. Here you will find people who you can exchange DiggIt's from Digg.com or Stumbles from StumbleUpon. What this means is more traffic for your sites, and I mean a lot of traffic. If you have lots of traffic, and the network to make your article submitted or website more visible, you will make more money!

Make $1000 by Online Checking Referrals

Where in this world can you get $1000 for free these days? Do you need to pay off some bills, take your girlfriend out for a nice(long awaited) dinner/weekend? How about treating yourself to a new pair of shoes? How about some money to market or start your blog/internet business?

A mortgage bank is trying to break into the online banking business. And they are offering $20 for you to open an online free checking account. They are legitimate. They will give you $20 each referral, up to 50 referrals. Many of the big banks like Bank of America have similar promotions. But this is done completely online, at the click of a mouse! So you and everyone you know have a checking account already? So what! There is no obligation, and no cost, other than a little marketing. Cancel the account after you get $1000. You have a group of friends, family on your email list? You have a blog you can write about? Email me: admin@sunnyduck.com, and I will submit your e-mail to the bank, where they can send you a referral email to sign up.

My Experience with Free Hosting

So, right about now, I have 5 domains. A little too domain purchase happy -I know. My fifth one was actually a domain I'm commissioned to do. All this time, I've been just buying website/domain names using free hosting from Google Blogger/Blogspot or using free server hosts like HyperPHP.com.

My fifth domain website, needs a shopping cart. Which gets a little different from my four previous websites because they're mostly content sites. So, when I was setting up the 5th website, I looked to add ZenCart, a free open-source shopping cart solution. So, I'm installing it, then it runs into a snag. The snag being that free servers don't allow certain permissions these shopping carts require. Back to paid hosting! =( But the $20 off coupon code made me happy.

All in all, free server hosts are good for blog/content/magazine related sites. If you have e-commerce needs where people can buy stuff, then you need paid hosting. Make sure you get Linux operating systems because of all the server applications you can add. Windows basically sucks in this department. Trust me, if you choose Windows, it's not going to be any easier.

P.S. I've ran through the following applications so far: Quickblog(yuck), Blogger(slightly better), WordPress(getting sexy), and now I'm learning something called Drupal, which is considered content management system. I'm not going to even try to explain it, because I really haven't started, just unloaded it to the server files. I'll say this though: it's considered powerful from small sites to corporate sites - and it's all free baby! I'll have a lot of time to work on learning Drupal, since I switched all my domains from free server hosts to paid server hosts.

5 day old Niche Site Build

This is a screen-shot of my SiteMeter stats for my new niche model site. I just wanted to show you how a new site can generate a lot of traffic in a short amount of time. The site is on a Blogger/Blogspot blog at the moment, but, I will be switching it to WordPress for better search-engine traffic.

On Thursday, 7/19, I published the site in afternoon or so, and submitted a few articles to social news sites and made some various message forum posts. As you can see the traffic is decent, but not all that great. Day #2, Friday, 7/20, I released a catchy title about a celebrity model article and you can see I got 5 times as much visitors but with only 3hrs in the day. Day #3, I released my second article which I labored over once again, and with only 1 1/2 hr in the day, I almost hit the same amount of visitors with the combination of those two articles. Sunday and Monday are about the after-effects.

I just want to say, for any brand new site, there's lots of potential. Make one really good article and market it as much as you can. Because what I've learned is spending time creating one really good article or blog entry is worth more than 100 crappy blogs.

Yes, note in the graph that I did mention I did get two forum bans. I was a little overzealous and didn't follow the rules. Basically linking an article. So be careful. But, those forum bans aren't really big deals. I'm now focused on optimizing the site for search-engine traffic from Google, MSN, and Yahoo.

If you haven't started a site yet, you can register a domain for a minimum of one year for under $10. There's free web hosting servers or blog sites to host your blog or site. With a bit of learning and experimenting, you can very well be building a traffic-monger of a website too.
